Meaning:

If you understand the true meaning of life, it is salvation. If you are ignorant of it, life is bondage. The wise know that life is dream.

Where is perpetual happiness and thereafter where is sorrow for the philosopher who is desire less. Where is sin and where is piety for the yogi who is never attached to the fruits of his actions?

Which is nectar and which is poison to the person who survives without food? Where are friends and foes to the wise that renunciates?

Where is fear of performing religious duties to the blessed devotee of God? A devotee who has Sri Venkatesa in his conscience is not enamored of the fruits of his Karmas in this or transcendental world.

Meaning :

Oh Madana Gopala, please wake up.
You are the most beautiful lord. You are my precious treasure.

You are majestic amidst young Gopikas like king elephant in forest.
You are fond of the lotus-heart of Satyabhama like a bee is fond of pollen on lotus.
Her face is beautiful like moon.

You are in the embrace of loving Rukmini like a parrot in cage.
You are the moon for the lotus-like eyes of your sixteen thousand consorts.

Oh Madana Gopala, You are like beautiful blue cloud spreading on mountains resembling the breasts of Gopikas in lake.
You have Sri Lakshmi on your chest. You established yourself on Venkatadri like wish-fulfilling "Kalpataru" to bestow boons.

Meaning :

I prostrate the immortal one who reclines on the king-serpent, bestower of prosperity to the Puru dynasty. OH! PADMANABHA

Your feet are worshipped by BRAHMA, SIVA, INDRA and other celestials.
OH! PADMANABHA

You, being extolled by the sage, took a beautiful form for the sake of his devotion. You are surrounded by the holy PADMATIRTTHA, redeeming all woes and miseries. You are praised by AGASTYA, MAHENDRA, TRIKUTA and MALAYACALENDRA. You are resplendent on the golden VIMANA made by VANCI MARTHANDA VARMA - the annihilator of wicked.

You are adorned by the crown, lustrous as the sun, the fish-shaped ear-rings, pearl garlands, KAUSTUBHA, shining PITAMBARA, golden girdle around the waist and beautiful VANAMALA. You delight in LAKSHADIPA-festival of lamps in lakhs-and other daily UTSAVA-rituals done by the sinless and unparalleled Kings of VANCI. Oh! PADMANABHA, whose eyes brim with the nectar of compassion and which are akin to the softest inner petals of the lotus.
